Stitch & Pitch
Stitch & Pitch
Bring your needlework & come cheer the New York Mets with me June 5th at CitiField. I’ll be leading the gang as we try to set a Guinness World Record for crocheting! Get reduced rate tickets, early admission & more.
Love to knit, crochet, embroidery, needlepoint, etc.? Love baseball? So do I – so grab your knitting/needlepoint/embroidery/crochet – whatever and come out to Citifield Saturday, June 5th as the Mets take on the Marlins. It’s all part of (pic- stitchnpitch) Stitch & Pitch, a project of The National Needlearts Association which brings crafters to the ball park. This year, we’ll be trying to set a Guinness World record for the most people simultaneously crocheting – and we’ll be doing it with FREE Deborah Norville yarn! I’m suggesting we make preemie caps which we’ll donate to local hospitals – so we’ll be doing good while we have fun watching the game! Best of all, the ticket prices are super reasonable. I am thrilled to again be a part of Stitch n Pitch, a now nationwide effort that began when officials at the Seattle Mariners noticed a number of female workers knitting together during lunch at work and thought that might be a way to encourage more women to attend baseball games. Imagine my thrill last August at being asked to throw out the first pitch at a Seattle Mariners. My warm up throws were so hideous the assistant grounds keeper took it upon himself to give me some pitching instruction – in the official Mariners warm-up pen! How’d I do? Well, I’ve been told I pitch better than the President! You can see the video HERE.
